Paddle Pups SUP Race Coming to the Expo

The Houseboat Expo will include a Standup Paddleboard Race for the first time ever. The race will take place around the one-mile Luau Loop. The scenery around the Luau Loop is beautiful and the race will take participants around the high cliffs and houseboat villages of Lake Cumberland in Kentucky.

Standup paddleboarding is a new water sport that offers a more relaxing way to explore the water. While standing up, participants can take in the beauty of whatever is around them.

If this is your first time standup paddleboarding, no problem. Rent some gear and sign up for the beginner race. There will be four different events for men and women paddlers of different levels.  The race will take place on Saturday morning.

The race day registration will begin at 7 a.m. on Saturday followed by a warm-up and race debrief at 8.
The first race will be the elite race for men starting at 9 a.m. and the elite women will begin at 9:05. The beginner race for men will begin at 9:15 and the beginner race for women will start at 9:20. There will be an awards ceremony at 3 p.m. after the races where the top man and woman winner will receive a prize.

Participants will receive a t-shirt and a day pass to the houseboat expo.
To register before the expo for $45, click here. Registration will be allowed on Friday, June 6 and Saturday, June 7 at 7 a.m. for $55.

Exhibitors On Display at the 2014 Expo

Did you know that every year at the houseboat expo we have exhibitors showing their products? Did you also know that it is free for the public to go into the exhibitor’s area? This year we have some great exhibitors lined up.

Here are a few of the companies that will be showcasing their stuff at this year’s expo in June:

G. Brothers, LLC
The G. Brothers is an emerging company created in 2012 with their first product, the aquacoozie. The aquacoozie, now called the Drink Dinghy was created to keep beverages out of the water and floating. It comes with a tether so drinks won’t float away. Since the release of their first product in 2012, G. Brothers, LLC has also released two more drink related products, Stem Huggers and Bottle Its.

BacTANK T3
BacTank’s purpose is to provide environment-friendly products to consumers. Their technology provides a safe way to dispose of waste and get rid of odors. They offer products from bathroom cleaner to holding tank solutions, all of which will help rid boats of waste and smells without damaging marine life.

Woodies Restorations
Paul Cundiff created Woodies Restoration after restoring boats for his children. When a boat he restored called Taylor’s Pony earned the Best Non Professional Restoration award in 1994, Cundiff started his own restoration shop under his house. Woodies Restoration now restores and sells boats. Woodies also provides parts and instructions on maintaining and restoring boats for those who want to restore their boats themselves.

iFloats
iFloat was created to fill a need for floating water toys that would withstand hard playing and last longer than one summer. iFloat was created to last a long time and provide maximal buoyancy. Since its creation, iFloat has added to their product by producing anchor weights and ski towing systems.

Lifeline Batteries
Since their introduction in 1980, Lifeline Batteries have earned global recognition for their AGM battery technology. They make their batteries with superior materials and a time consuming hand-made process. Lifeline Batteries provide long-lasting, maintenance free batteries without dangerous corroding and gas discharge.

These companies and more will be showcasing their products at our On the Water Expo at Lake Cumberland State Dock on June 6-8. Tickets to get on to the dock are $10 for a one-day pass or $20 for a 3-day pass. If you purchase your 3-day pass tickets online you will receive a free t-shirt. Purchase your tickets here

Win a Qwest pontoon in the poker run

Once again, On Water Expo attendees will have a chance to win a brand-new pontoon from Apex Marine. In order to win this amazing boat, simply buy your ticket to the On Water Expo, head to State Dock June 6-8 and buy poker hands at the Houseboat Magazine table. Once you have purchased your hand, you will walk around to different vendors and pick up your playing cards in sealed envelopes. Bring them back to the Houseboat Magazine table so that an official representative can open your envelopes and see what you were dealt. From there, the top five hands head to the final table where the last one standing will take the boat. Each runner-up will also go home with a prize package, which will include fun towables from Sportsstuff.

This 7518 XRE Cruise Qwest pontoon from Apex Marine is loaded with fun features. It comes standard with a Humminbird 386ci Color, combination GPS/fish finder, Italian-design steering wheel and LED courtesy lights.
